Briefing: Industry and government debating old issues shows not much has changed

It always seems to be the same issues popping up – but that doesn’t mean they’re resolved, says Guy

Biba’s announcement yesterday (6 February 2024) that it had called on the UK government to implement a range of changes in March’s Spring Budget will be viewed as timely and highlighting the issues that are impacting the market and its clients.

However, for those who have been in this market for two decades or more, the core issues are still those that the industry and Whitehall have been locking horns over since at least the 1990s.
